Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 August 2026
Your household's information is yours. This policy covers what we collect and why, when we access or share it, and what you can do about it. We do not sell your data and we never will.
Homefold is operated by Homefold LLC, an Indiana limited liability company. You can reach us at privacy@homefoldapp.com.
What we collect and why
We collect only what we need to run Homefold. In practice that means:
Identity and access
When you sign up we ask for your name and email address, so we can create your account and contact you about the service. You can optionally add a profile photo. We do not store passwords. You sign in with a link sent to your email address, or through Google, Apple, or Microsoft.
Your household's content
We store the content your household creates in Homefold, for example calendar events and lists, so you can use the product as intended. We keep it for as long as your household is active.
Calendars you connect
If you connect a Google account, we read events from the calendars you choose and copy them into your household. Access is read only, so we do not create, change, or delete anything in your Google Calendar. We also store the technical information needed to keep those events in sync. You can disconnect at any time.
Documents you send to our AI features
Homefold can read a photo, a PDF, or an email you forward, and suggest calendar events from it. We send that content to Anthropic to process. This happens only when you ask for it. We do not scan your mailbox, and we do not send your calendar or your existing content to any AI model.
We cache results so that a document already processed for one household is not processed again for another. The cache holds only what was extracted from the document, and nothing that identifies you or your household.
Log data
We log IP addresses and basic browser and device information when you use Homefold, for security and to diagnose faults. We also collect error reports when something goes wrong.
Correspondence
When you email us we keep that correspondence, including your email address, so we have a record if you get in touch again.
Google user data
Homefold's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to theGoogle API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We never send data from your calendar to an artificial intelligence model, for training or for any other purpose. Events imported from a connected account are marked as such and are excluded from every feature that uses a model. We do not sell that data or transfer it to advertisers, data brokers, or resellers.
When we access or share your information
We use these companies to run Homefold: Amazon Web Services for hosting, databases, and email; Cloudflare for network delivery and file storage; Anthropic for the AI features above; Sentry for error reporting; Expo for push notifications; and Google, Apple, and Microsoft for sign in and calendar connection.
No one at Homefold looks at your household's content, except when you ask us to help with something, when we need to investigate a security problem or abuse, or when the law requires it.
Visibility within your household
You can limit who in your household sees a particular event or item. These settings are a permission model rather than encryption, and we can access what is stored where it is necessary to run the service.
A shopping list or a calendar will name the people it concerns, including family members who do not have an account of their own. That information belongs to the household that entered it, stays within that household, and is never sold or used for advertising.
Your rights with respect to your information
We apply these rights to everyone who uses Homefold, wherever you live.
- Right to know. You have the right to know what personal information is collected, used, and shared. That is what this policy sets out.
- Right of access. You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Right to correction. You can correct your own information in Homefold at any time, or ask us to correct it.
- Right to erasure. You can ask us to erase your household's data, and we will do it by hand until a self-service option exists. Erasing it will usually mean closing the account, because Homefold will no longer work without it.
- Right to portability. You can export everything your household has put into Homefold at any time.
- Right to object or restrict. You can ask us to stop or limit how we use your information. You can also unlink a Google, Apple, or Microsoft account you use to sign in, which stops all further access to it.
- Right not to be subject to automated decisions. Homefold does not make decisions about you by automated means. Our AI features suggest calendar events for a person to confirm, and nothing more.
- Right to non-discrimination. We will not charge you more, offer you less, or give you worse support because you exercised any of these rights.
- Right to complain. Email us first and we will try to put it right. If you are in the United States you can also complain to your state attorney general or to the Federal Trade Commission.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@homefoldapp.com. We may need to verify your identity first, usually by confirming your name and email address, and we cannot respond to a request we are unable to verify. Some information may be exempt under applicable law, for example where we need to keep it to provide the service.
How we secure your data
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is limited to people who need it. No service can promise perfect security, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your information.
What happens when you delete something
Deleting something inside Homefold today is a soft delete. It stops appearing anywhere in the product, but the underlying record is kept, so that a sync fault cannot destroy a household's calendar. It is not yet erased from our database.
That is different from asking us to delete your data. There is no self-service option to do that yet, and we are building one along with a retention limit. Until then, emailprivacy@homefoldapp.com and we will erase your household's data by hand. We will confirm when it is done.
Children
You must be at least 13 to have a Homefold account. Homefold is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly let a child under 13 create an account.
Younger children appear in a household as profiles that an adult creates and manages. A child's profile cannot have an account, so we never collect an email address, a password, or any credentials for a child. We do not ask for a child's date of birth. What your household records in its own calendar and lists is up to you.
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Location of site and data
Homefold is offered to people in the United States. We do not offer it in the European Union or the United Kingdom, and it is not directed to people there.
Homefold is operated in the United States and our servers are located there. If you use Homefold from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
Changes and questions
We may update this policy, and we will tell you before a change that affects how we handle your information takes effect. If you have questions, email us.
